Managed Print Services (MPS) involve managing hard copy fleets (copiers, printers, multifunction devices and fax machines) in a unified fashion. While this can be done internally, the term is typically associated with outsourcing the fleets service and supply to an external vendor. The core aspects of MPS are 1.) Defines total cost of ownership on a variable expense. 2.) Develops a cost model based on a per printed page. 3.) Proactive maintenance of equipment 4.) Automated supply replenishment 5.) Ongoing optimization of the fleet environment throughout the contract life.
